In preparation for the Confirmation we were busy in class working on our Confirmation scrapbooks. We were learning about the fruits and gifts of the Holy Spirit. We also learned our responses. We went for a practice in the Church so we would know where to sit and the readers got to practice their readings and prayers.

Our Confirmation was on the 24th of February at 2:30pm in the Church of the Irish Martyrs. Our sponsor and immediate family were sitting in the row with you. The service was about an hour long. Bishop Alan, Father Harkin and Father Dominic were at the ceremony. It was a lovely ceremony and it was a great day. The school choir sang the hymns and were amazing.

Our Confirmation ceremony was particularly special because it was one of Bishop Alan’s last Confirmations. He talked to us about using the gifts that God gave us. He then confirmed us as the choir were singing. At the end of the ceremony we sang Happy Birthday to him as it was his birthday the next day. Bishop Alan is moving to a new diocese in Belfast. This is where he is from. Ms Slevin thanked him and Jack and Emma made a presentation to him to thank him for the all work he has done in our school and diocese. Everyone got a picture taken with him also after the ceremony.

After the Confirmation, the sixth class children with their families were invited back to the school for tea and treats. After that, some of us went out for dinner with our families or some went back to their house. Everyone had a lovely day and enjoyed spending it with their family and friends.
