Cuireadh tús spleodrach le spiorad na Nollag i Scoil Thalamh na Coille ar an chéad lá de mhí na Nollag. Bhí díolachán cácaí againn sa halla mór. Rinne achan teaghlach sa scoil iarracht mhór rudaí deasa, blasta a dhéanamh don díolachán. Bhí brioscaí, cácaí agus bonnóga d’achan saghas ar díol.

Bhí na daltaí ó rang a cúig agus ó rang a sé ag díol na gcácaí agus gan dabht ar bith bhí siad iontach díograiseach agus fuinniúil i rith an lae. Bhí atmaisféar breá bríomhar sa halla. Ceann de na rudaí is fearr faoin díolachán ná go raibh na daltaí ag labhairt as Gaeilge sa halla. Bhí na daltaí sinsearacha ag cuidiú leis na daltaí óga nuair a bhí siad ag roghnú cácaí agus fosta nuair a bhí siad ag íoc as a gcuid bia.

Ardaíodh €1750 fá choinne na carthanachta Ospís Laura Lynn. Tá suim mhór agus nasc láidir ag muintir Thalamh na Coille leis an charthanacht seo. Ar an 11ú de mhí Eanáir tháinig teaghlach Uí Shiáil isteach agus ghlac siad leis an airgead ar son Ospís Laura Lynn. Baineann Conall agus a theaghlach sult agus leas as na háiseanna, na hacmhainní agus as an chuidiú a fhaigheann siad ón charthanacht seo.

Ba mhaith linn ár mbuíochas a ghabháil leis na tuismitheoirí agus leis na daltaí a bhí i mbun na bácála uilig don díolachán. Chomh maith leis sin tá muid iontach buíoch le gach duine a bhí chomh flaithiúil le Oispís LauraLynn.

The Christmas Spirit got off to an exciting start in Scoil Thalamh na Coille on the 1st December. We had a cake in the hall. Every family in the school made a great effort to bake delicious goodies for the cake sale. There was a great selection of biscuits, cakes and buns for sale on the day.

The 5th  and 6th class students did an excellent job in selling the cakes in such an enthusiastic and energetic manner. There was a great buzz in the hall. One of the best things about the cake was that the students were speaking Irish to each other. The senior students were so kind in helping the younger students to choose some goodies and in turn pay for them.

€1750 was raised for the LauraLynn Children’s Hospice. This is a charity which is very close to our hearts here in Scoil Thalamh na Coille. On the 11th January the Shiels family came in the school to accept the money on behalf of the LauraLynn Children’s Hospice. They were very grateful for our fundraising efforts for this cause of which they benefit greatly from their help and care for Conall.

We would like to thank all the students and parents who busy baking for our cake sale. We are very grateful to everyone who contributed so generously to this very worthy cause.
